Male Dorms Empty Re: Male Dorms

"Ya think you know a guy..." Auro said with disappointment as he entered the Senior dorm room. His comment was directed at the young man he'd shared his favorite book with, who'd stolen it and made off for the Sophomore dorms. The redhead wasn't too upset by the act, seeing as he could easily get it back, but it certainly threw him off. That thing had sentimental value, dammit!

"You did only know him for 17 hours and three minutes," came the rich baritone of Auro's best friend. Rold followed him into the crowded dorm room, his arms unburdened save for a single trunk he was pulling behind him. Unlike Auro, he was less materialistic and only brought what he needed.

Said teen threw his multitude of belongings on the closest strategically placed bed frame (not too close to the door, not too far away, the bed being juuuust a little further from the next by a hair, meaning more personal space to make a mess....) and faced Rold with a sardonic look.

"Seventeen hours and three minutes on a cramped airline, and a even more packed train ride is plenty enough time for a guy like me to get to know someone. I had him pegged for an honest mama's boy. Like you." Auro ignored the slightly incredulous look Rold threw his way and turned back to his bed and threw open his trunk, sifting through his unfolded, wrinkly clothes for a special item he never went without. He'd brought his ultra special lucky pillow case - the thing guaranteed good grades and good women. "And stop doing that timing - whatever days whatever hours and minutes thing! It's freaky."

Rold was settling into the bed behind him, suppressing a smile from emerging on his stoic face. "You said it was cool six months, three days, and fourteen hours ago."

"Agghh...%^&* off."

"Hn."

That irritating sound was churning out of the speakers of nearly everyone he passed. If only he could short-circuit each electronic device - then he'd get some peace.

Riven Lyr was given a curse upon birth: to hear the individual notes of any music that happened to be nearby. Well, that and the talent to do anything musical . . . but it was mainly that horrible, horrible curse. Ever since he'd turned ten, he hadn't been able to stand "the universal language."

Grumpily, he sat on his bed, picking through his suitcase without paying attention to what he was doing. His ears, forever the traitors, chose to instead concentrate on the faint echos of music that danced through the school's corridors and outside it, as well as the awful out-of-tune vocals sung by the culprits who were playing it.

Karaoke was meant for bars. Leave it there, he thought acerbically, taking out a book and trying to pay attention to the soft rustling noise the pages made.

There was a soft click at the door, all else virtually soundless as the 'Head Boy' for the male dorms entered the large room, not having a single bag on him. Long white hair pulled back into a pony tail, save a few strands shaping his face, the ethereal shapeshifter walked calmly into the room and straight over to a bed by a window that already had assorted items present.

Medwyn was an all year student.

After looking over his things in one swift glance, the pale white orbs now focused on the new students, taking them in just as quickly, most likely processing them at speeds higher than normal.

"Well then," Medwyn began in a voice that had slight unidentifiable accent, "welcome to Soror et Frater Academy."

"Welcome, welcome back - it's the same thing," Riven mumbled to himself, vaguely in-tune with the world around him. He'd managed to fight back his natural abilities (for the moment) and was focusing intently on his book. The best sound in the world: paper rustling, pens across paper, anything to do with paper, really.

Sighing, as he figured he should be paying attention, Riven looked up at the pale man sitting near an already homey-looking area of the room. All right. Gather up your senses, breathe deeply . . . yeah, that was the same one from last year, who he'd somehow avoided the previous half-year mostly due to Bastis constantly pulling him everywhere but the school.

Bastis. That bastard was off blasting loud, irritating, soulless, horrific decibels of black metal. Riven wanted to scoop out his eardrums and eat them. It'd be a lovely meal, no different than some others he'd eaten, but then he wouldn't hear his paper.

"Heya," he called in greeting without thinking too much about it. Most of his mind was now scampering back to the various forms of music he could hear, and he desperately tried to wrangle it back from there.

Seeing as the room was now filling up even more with young men, Auro's attention was quickly stolen from his personal belongings and put to work on observing the people around him. Considering them agical nature of the school, he should have been prepared, but looking over the strange assortment of characters he was surrounded by he couldn't help but feel surprised and a little put off.

"The hell? I knew there were going to be weirdos here," he muttered to Rold, his sharp eyeszipping about. He even went so far as to climb atop his bed and lean into the aisles to get a glimpse of everyone. "They're all effin' freaks, man!"

Rold paid him no heed, quietly putting his things away in appropriate drawers, his task made easy by the very small amount of stuff he carried with him. Every article of clothing was neatly folded and just as neatly hidden away in a cubby and everything else was arranged just as neatly atop his dresser. He didn't obsess over this neatness, though. It was all done with deliberate waves of the hands, as if he'd already been there and already knew where everything went. Five minutes and he was unpacked.

five minutes, and Auro was still fooling around, practically hanging from the ceiling fro a good view nad snickering at some guy wearing some striped red and purple outfit.

Then a very palee, graceful creature walked in - Rold could sense him very distinctly, as subtle as the young man's aura was. In this chaos around him, he was a center of calm and dignified energy.

Tugging Auro's leg once caused the redhead to crash to the ground in a cursing heap.

"The hell was that for?!" he yelled, but Rold merely pointed and Auro shut his mouth to hear what was inevitably going to be some boring welcome speech.

As predicted, Medwyn made not noticeable indication that he had heard either one speak brashly, though by the way his ears folded back into his skull inhumanly (thankfully hidden by hair that swooped into the pony tail), he did. No move was made to act on it, though, and instead the ethereal being waited politely enough for it to calm down to the degree he could speak.

"As you know, this is an academy for magically gifted students. While here, you are expected to remain in human form during classroom hours, which will be from 7AM to 3PM, and to not leave school grounds without permission first. Uniform is required during class time and outside of it, so enjoy your fashion freedom while you have it.

"Between the hours of 11PM and 6AM, any students younger than 18-years may not leave the dormitories without specific permission. This includes students over that age who age slower and therefore still have the mentality of an 18-year-old.

"This building, as you know is the dorms, and those buildings forming a circle are the classrooms. The one to the right from there that stands alone is the mess hall and student lounge. The last building out front is the main offices. I'm Medwyn, 1st Head Boy, and if you have any questions just ask me, or Kefira, the 1st Head Girl."

Ending the introduction speech, the graceful teen paused for any questions, hand already somehow managing to grasp a book without drawing attention to the action.

"That's great, thank you for the information," stated Riven dismissively, eyes following a page as it turned itself. His sensitive ears - sensitive to all noise, the tolerable side effect of forcing away the music - picked up the sound of someone snickering before the speech was delivered, and he wanted to look at the culprit.

Instead, he watched as his book levitated, did some nifty tricks, then settled itself neatly into a little corner for later amusement. Maybe, he thought, just maybe, I should be paying attention. Something might've changed, these beings might be complete jerks . . .

He couldn't quite fool himself, unfortunately. Even when he wasn't paying attention the information was steeped in his brain stems. Sensitivity to all things that had even the vaguest of frequencies was very, very useful, while simultaneously being very, very trying. At least he couldn't remember every bit of information tossed at him.

If that were the case his head would've exploded, even before his sister chopped off his dad's nuts and sent poor Riven hiking away to some school that almost rejected him because his aura was "too much like a human bitch's."

Yes. Almost human. That's what he was, barely able to levitate a paperback.

Riven's murky violet eyes suddenly became scarily clear, and he snapped them to the shapeshifter that was addressing them. Remember your lessons in respect, he reminded himself sternly.

Rold, of course, listened quietly, standing neutrally near his bed and looking out the windows to see the appropriate buildings upon mention. When the white haired male finished speaking, Rold relaxed slightly and moved towards Auro's suitcase.

Blue green eyes sparkled, eager to get out and explore the school. Auro's attention had wandered from the Head Boy to the view outside and he couldn't wait to get out of the stuffy noisy room and run around. At least, until he replayed what he'd heard in his head and realized he had a problem.

"Uniforms? 24/7??" he asked no one in particular, scandalized.

"That's what he said," Rold's voice reminded gently as he unpacked for the wayward teen.

Auro's surprise melted into something like thoughtfulness, although the curve of his mouth wasn't a harmless frown. He was already thinking of how to break the rules without being caught.
